Health Guarantee of Our Birds
We have the strongest bird guarantee in the country, and more importantly, we stand behind our guarantee. The guarantee is simple: We guarantee that we are selling you a perfectly healthy bird. To verify that guarantee, within five days you need to go to an Avian Vet and get any and all testing you prefer to do on your bird, at your expense. We can guide you as to the tests we suggest. If the results are not perfect but the bird can be easily treated, then we pay for all medications and all treatment. If the results are unacceptable then we either replace your bird or refund 100% of the purchase price of your bird, at our option.

Bird Guarantee only lasts for the first five days

Since we have 100% control over the bird’s environment at our store but have no control over the bird once it leaves, we can only guarantee the bird for the first five days. We guarantee that when the bird leaves the store that it has been properly socialized and that it is 100% healthy. Your new bird has been given an excellent start here at Hand Raised Macaw and Parrots, and it is now your responsibility to properly care for your bird. We are always here to help you take the best care of your bird with the biggest variety and best quality bird products available in the world.

A Specialist will first look to see where the closest airport is to ship your bird. (We only ship birds on airlines that implement a Pet Safe Program) After choosing an airport, we will begin coordinating all schedules and considerations. We will then book your flight and send you an email itinerary of all of the times, flights, schedules and pick-up/Delivery locations. Once all of the paperwork is filled out and your bird is checked in at the airport, you will receive an email and/or phone call letting you know how everything is going. During the day of the flight, we will continually be updating you on the progress of the flight schedules until your bird arrives safely in your arms.

*Your bird will arrive in a brand new airline-approved cage/crate with absorbent bedding and a food & water dish.

*All parrots are flown in the under portion part of the aircraft which is a safe temperature-controlled environment.

*The price will cover all expenses except for an updated health certificate. (This would be paid by the purchaser and/or the breeder).

*Any fees owed because of flight cancellations will be the responsibility of the individual who receives the bird.

Check the CITES status of your parrot.

Before you start making preparations to ship your newly bought Talking parrot, it is important to understand its CITES status. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) protects endangered species and other exotic species that may be susceptible to endangerment if the trade is left unchecked. If your newly bought pet parrot is listed as a CITES protected species, you will need to ensure you have all the right permits beforehand or notify us so we can ship our papers for you with a $200 fee for us to use our documents or papers for your home delivery in your receiving destination. If your bird is departing from the United States, you need to have your bird inspected. Also, the permits must be issued by the United States Fish & Wildlife Service before departure. You will need between 6 to 7 months to acquire the necessary documentation needed to legally ship a CITES species but with ExoticBirdShop we proceed with delivery once half or all the fee above is paid for renting inspection papers for endangered species.
If your parrot is not among the species listed by CITES, you won’t have to go through the lengthy CITES permitting process. Popular parrots like the African greys, cockatoos, and macaws are not protected by CITES.

Know the right bird travel crate for your parrot

If you have satisfied the first and second procedures above, then you will have to consider the travel crate for your bird. When planning to ship your pet bird, you will need to comply with the IATA’s Live Animal Regulations (LAR). It means that the crate must provide your bird with some sort of perch and an opening for ventilation. The ventilation space must be small enough to prevent the bird from getting its wing or beat outside. You must also ensure there is enough food to last the bird for the entire duration of the journey.
Depending on the size of your newly bought parrot, you can make customized bird crates from a small dog or cat travel crate. You can attach a store-bought perch to the inside of the crater wall. Ensure you cover the ventilation holes and door with very fine pieces of wire mesh attached securely with plastic zip ties. Since birds enjoy privacy, you can make detachable “curtains” by cutting out strips of burlap attached to the outside of the crate with Velcro.
You can also add a couple of dishes to the crate door and cover the floor with a piece of newspaper. That’s a first-class bird crate you have created there for your bird. You must get your bird to start getting used to being in the crate well before the day of departure.

To begin your shipping process or make a reservation, Email us or fill out our contact form here!. Every parrot we shipped will be handled with great care, love, and compassion by one of our Shipping Specialists.

We will coordinate flight times with our customer hours/days in advance before the bird is shipped (weather permitting). The customer is supplied with the airline, flight number(s), air waybill number, and flight arrival time prior to departure.

It is recommended that the customer arrives at the airport no later than the expected flight arrival time so that your bird is not waiting at the airport for any length of time.

In the case where delivery is to be done at home, the customer is recommended to be at home at the specified hour of delivery.

We will contact our customer once again on the day of shipment before the bird’s departure from our Farm/aviary. A return call, text, or e-mail to Everyday Pets and Birds letting us know that the bird(s) arrived safely is greatly appreciated.

We have a 72-hour limit of notification, after delivery of the birds, of any death at the point of delivery, specified on the order. Immediate inspection is necessary to insure damage didn’t occur during shipping and the birds are alive at delivery. We will replace the dead bird or refund the cost of the bird one time, but not the shipping cost.
